Baseball Terminology

Bang it (verb) – cancel, end or suspend.
Used in a sentence: “It is going to rain all night, so we need to postpone the game. Bang it!” Can also be used in the past tense: “The game was banged.”

Dry Hump (noun, verb) – the act or process of getting fully prepared to be inserted into a game, or promoted to a new level to then be told it’s not happening.
Used in a sentence: “I flew to Philadelphia to meet the Big League team, but then they traded for someone and I just sat in the hotel for two nights, and then flew back. Didn’t end up being a call-up, just a dry hump.”

Eyewash (noun) – an activity that is purely for looks and serves no meaningful or productive purpose.
Used in a sentence: “He lined out to the pitcher, and was called out before he even ran two steps out of the box. Why did he sprint all the way through first base? That’s such eyewash.”
